Fist Plugin in the WordPress extend directory: PGI Inventory Plugin

Earlier today the I uploaded my first plugin to the WordPress extend directory, an inventory display and management plugin made for my current employer PGI Auto. Admittedly this plugin is a little abstract for the average site user but if your an automotive dealer, or making a site for one, and your using the Autobase inventory management system, this this will set you up right. It covers the full gamut of features including importing from multiple sources at once. it designed with gull customizability in mind, with movable and selection filters and display option on the search page and a customizable module layout of the details page. If your not to into the customization you can enable a default white stylesheet or turn it off to be left with a bare skeleton.

It’s up in the extend directory for anybodies pursuing, granted they have the required inventory feed. Don’t want to search, just click here: PGI Inventory Plugin.

There should be some more useful plugins coming up soon, The first which is already in the approval process, is an SEO plugin that makes optimizing large sites, or multiple little sites, a breeze. Beyond that I have a few ideas and plugins I’ve worked on in the past that I may remake and publish to the market over the next couple months (probably wont start that till my new hardware comes in in next month).

I’ll make a post about the SEO plugin once I can get that one through the process, but I figured the first one I’ve gotten in the system was itself post worthy.

  1. Hello Phillip,

I want to thank you for developing this plugin. I am designing and developing a site for a gentleman who will be selling cars and shipping them to Africa from the states due to exclusive brands being available here in the states. What I am curious of is if your plugin supports searching a wide inventory of any car made in the US? Say for instance if this gentleman does not have a fixed inventory and would like for the visitors of his site to be able to search any car and request it would that type of function be available through your plugin? If not do you have any suggestions?

    1. You would need an Autobase style XML feed to give the script, or you would need to manually add the vehicle to the database, but there should be no problem with having a wide variety. There is currently no way to add cars without using the Autobase XML or manual DB access but it is in the plans for a future version, when we might get to that is up in the air, but it will most likely be early next month with my current workload.

  2. I’m building a motorcycle rental site, and realizing the huge need for an inventory management plugin. This looks great, but I’m also wondering how I could manually add vehicles. I.e. I have photos, specs, price… Just need a way to add and display them all.

Do you think your plugin might be a fit?

If there’s a way to input from within the wp dashboard… this would really rock. Hope you are able to keep developing, this is a plugin with huge potential, thanks for what you’ve done!

    1. There is a way to input them from the dashboard on the new system, although it requires registration (not something I wanted but management was insistent). Another way would be to create an XML file and place that somewhere on the server, if it’s on the proper format then the script will read it in just fine and take care of the rest.

I’m not sure about how the registration will actually work, we have a couple of other imminent projects, but I’ll see how they plan to handle it and make a post about it.
